Getting the best out of your Watersaver wicking garden

If you want to keep getting great results a bit of maintenance is required. If birds or animals are getting to be a problem it is easy to retro-fit an aluminium canopy frame with optional trellis plus my commercial grade netting. Add compost every second planting, just spread out and quickly turn over soil so the abundant worms don't get sun burn. Every three to six months add an organic natural mineral plant food like EarthLife GardenMate, made here in...

Potatoes, another idea. Updated at harvest

So added to this at harvest, scroll down to view the life and times of a potato. To save digging when harvesting I have shallow planted the potatoes and made a frame out of corflute that the colorbond comes in. Bit of mulch on top and then just keep adding the mulch as they grow. The one you can see came up on its own accord. That simple. Planted Add the mulch And away they go Yellowing and wilting, ready to harvest Soil looks great. No digging involved means no damage to potatoes or my back. Looking good...
Garlic, beautiful garlic

This is my crop. Not too shabby. Dried in the cool, this will last us most of the year. For best results stop feeding all nitrogen, like compost, two or thee months from harvest. As soon as this was harvested I added lots of compost and some Earthlife vegemate to the soil then planted lettuce, Q's, spring onions, tomatoes and basil.
