Watersaver Gardens Take Off The last four months have been absolutely full on. Even after hiring someone to give me a hand we have only just kept up. Great response from a feature in the Sunday Mail, big increase in web traffic and the Toowoomba Home Show Exhibit all contributing. Also thanks should go to the advertising of the 'vegepod'. Customers have been finding my website when looking for the vegepod website: a quick comparison of value-for-money and the fact that a greater range can be grown in a Watersaver Garden make the purchase of one of my gardens a no-brainer. Here's hoping...

Canopy /Trellis just the ticket for tomatoes in SE Qld.
Posted by Alan Singleton on
Janine recently purchased a garden and canopy/trellis. The jiggling she refers to is what is required for heirloom varieties of tomatoes if you cover them with one of my fruit fly nets. Hi Alan, Just thought would let you know I grew tomatoes very successfully under the canopy net which is helpful in SE Qld. I gave the flowers a daily jiggle to pollinate, it really only took a few minutes each day. Regards, Jannine
Home Grown Garlic

I plant my garlic early so I can harvest in time to replant the gardens with spring crops. A good winter crop, saves buying at $40 a kilo and it keeps! All it needs is plenty of compost and some organic soil conditioner. Gardeners tend to avoid it because it takes six months to grow but in my gardens it is just a matter of plant and forgot during the winter months. This lot will keep us going for a while.

A couple of photos from my garden this morning. A lot of gardeners are interested in saving water. These veggies are grown on 100% recycled laundry water (apparently it doesn't rain in Toowoomba any more). Broadbeans, Lettuce and Silverbeet
