Carnival of Flowers
Posted by Alan Singleton on
The Sydney Garden Show was a success despite the rain. Being a guest of Bec's twelve floors up overlooking the Harbour made for a pleasant stay. I have had hundreds through during the Carnival. They love Jaye's front garden of predominantly natives, many of which are in flower. Also a lot of interest in my vege gardens all looking great without the constant weeding or watering. Part of my display Some of my garlic ready to harvest Potatoes just planted looking good Jay's garden looks fantastic

What's Growing This Winter
Posted by Alan Singleton on
All is good this winter, particularly my cash crop, ninety garlic. On the way out but hanging in there: sweet basil, chilli, eggplant and cherry tomatoes. I still have a good range of herbs saving me money at the supermarket: galangal, dill, coriander, vietnamese mint, thai mint, thai basil, greek oregano, thyme, flat leaf parsley, rosemary and dill. You can see some of my garlic on the left and the fennel on...

The idea is to replace the pots that require watering and consequently not doing that well with something that looks good and has no maintenance. This area gets no direct sun but these plants will do well. The length is two pieces joined at the centre so you could order something like this in a colour and size to suit your needs. This one would cost $520 plus $20 to $40 freight depending on where...

Heat wave-what heatwave?
Posted by Alan Singleton on
The watersaver gardens got a good test over the last couple of days with temperatures of 39 and 40 degrees. Yes the plants looked a bit tired in the middle of those days but as you can see next morning they are back to normal. That's with no water since before we went to Melbourne on the 29th December. Don't forget we sell purpose built canopy frames for our gardens if you prefer to have shade cloth over your garden.
