Annette wrote a very good article in the Sunday Mail (20 Oct 2013) about the value of wick gardens with regard to saving water. I find that while this is a big advantage many people buy my gardens because of the convenience of not having to waste time watering with a hose and they love the low maintenance that comes with so few weeds. She was kind enough to mention my Pop-up flat packs that are suitable to freight around Australia. Annette cautioned that the liner in some wick gardens can be accidentally punctured when adding compost or planting. This will not happen with the Pop-up because the gardener will strike the wood chip before entering the level where damage could be done and my liner is made with heavy duty plastic.
